RE-DESIGNATE AGENTS FOR THE DMCA SAFE HARBOR BY THE END OF THIS MONTH
Due to recent changes in the rules governing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, if you are already signed up to take advantage of the DMCA safe harbor, you have less than a month to re-designate your agent online.
The “safe harbor” helps service providers avoid facing possible copyright liability for infringing material posted on their sites. The service provider designates an agent with the Library of Congress to receive copyright notices. On December 1, 2016, they launched an online designation system instead of the original paper form. Therefore, service providers need to re-designate agents originally designed on paper to maintain an active designation. So, don’t risk losing your safe harbor protection and re-designate through here.
