Gaming Compliance Veteran Leaves In-House World for Segev LLP Manav Bhargava to Lead Firm’s Ontario Gaming Regulatory Compliance Practice and New India Desk

VANCOUVER, B.C. – June 12, 2023 Segev LLP is delighted to welcome gaming industry compliance veteran, Manav Bhargava, to the firm following his in-house tenure with a number of businesses at the sector’s cutting-edge – most recently, Kaizen Gaming, preceded by successful stints with Esports Capital Corp. and FairP2P. Notably, Manav will be resident in the firm’s new Ontario office located at 151 Yonge Street in Toronto – the firm’s third location in addition to its locations in Vancouver, B.C. and St. Louis, Missouri.

Leveraging his unparalleled global gaming industry experience, the firm has named Manav to head its Gaming and Regulatory Compliance practice in Ontario, as well as its presence in India. In these dual roles, Manav actively tracks regulatory developments with respect to iGaming, sports betting, and monetized competitive skill gaming in Canada, and India to advise clients across the globe. Specifically in his capacity leading Segev LLP’s newly-formed India Desk, he leads a multidisciplinary team drawing from the firm’s range of gaming, M&A, securities and other practice areas to serve the needs of businesses seeking to tap the economic advantages of Canada-India business relations. As a thought leader, Manav identifies solutions to issues impeding the growth of the gaming industry and frequently appears before regulatory bodies across international jurisdictions to advocate on behalf of the sector’s continued growth.

“Over the course of his career, Manav has advised many multinationals on evolving gaming industry legislation and regulation and business law matters – bringing a well-rounded perspective as a business founder, in-house compliance chief, and as a private practitioner,” noted Ron Segev, Segev LLP’s Founding Partner. “This wealth of insight will be invaluable to our clients seeking to broaden or solidify their footprints in this fast-growing space in both Canada and India,” Segev adds.

Manav commented, “I have long admired Segev and its outstanding team of problem solvers – renowned for their expertise in gaming and betting. To join the team’s burgeoning Toronto platform and have the opportunity to champion our client’s regulatory needs among such an esteemed group is undoubtedly a highlight of my career.”

Manav is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and Bar Council of Delhi. Manav earned an LL.M. in Common Law from York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, an LL.B (Honours) from Nirma University in Ahmedabad, and the prestigious Company Secretary qualification from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), akin to Chartered Secretary Professional in Canada.

Segev LLP welcomes visitors to its new Toronto office to meet with Manav in-person.
